The Jardin des Plantes, located on the south bank of Rouen, is a free green space covering 20 acres right in the heart of the city. Both a place to relax and learn, this park, which dates back to 1840, has been recognised "Jardin Botanique de France et des Pays Francophones" (Botanical Garden of France and French-speaking countries) for its significant collection of species from all over the world. You will be able to admire, in particular, collections of irises, dahlias, fuchsias, aromatic and medicinal herbs as well as a collection of Asian species. Architecture lovers will appreciate the 17th century pavilion, its orangery, its aviary and its splendid tropical greenhouses.

The garden has belonged to the city since 1832 ; it covers 10 ha. Collection of medical plants, rose garden, irises and rock plants. Orangery, elegant 17th century pavillon, and tropical greenhouses, home to the Amazonlan Victoria Regia lily.
