La Chevauchée en Forêt de Lyons is a horse-riding itinerary that plunges you into the heart of one of France?s largest heathlands. For 35km, let yourself be enchanted by its charms and riches. Don't forget that this ride can be taken in either direction, either from Neuf-Marché or from Croisy-sur-Andelle.
1- Neuf-Marché
Opposite the starting totem pole in Neuf-Marché, turn left and follow the orange signs. You'll soon leave the road and enter the magnificent Lyons forest.
2- Carrefour des 4 Cantons
Take a short break at the Carrefour des 4 Cantons before continuing on your way
3- Bézu-la-Forêt
Leave the forest behind and head for the commune of Bézu-la-Forêt and its small stream, the Lévrière. Take a detour to admire the Château de la Fontaine du Houx and, if you feel like it, visit the Musée de la Ferme de Rome to discover the instruments and processes used to process milk
4- Intersection of the two seasons
You then come to a new intersection. If you are walking during the hunting season, from October 15 to February 28, you are forbidden to take the northern path through the forest (ONF decree). You'll have to pass through the small hamlets of Fleury-la-Forêt before reaching the forest's tall beech trees. Outside this period, i.e. between March 1 and October 14, you can enjoy the alternative route through the forest.
5- Connection point
Here you rejoin the main route. Whether you have chosen to go through the forest or the small hamlets, continue on your way following the signs.
6- Gite Le Gardian
Your journey ends here, at the Val-Saint-Pierre equestrian tourism center. You and your horses will be welcomed like royalty.
