From June 28, 2025 to January 5, 2026, the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rouen will be honoring Maxime Old (1910-1991), a key figure in 20th-century interior design. Known for his elegant, modern style, he left his mark on the history of French design. The exhibition invites visitors to immerse themselves in his world, through a hundred or so pieces of furniture, reconstructed interiors and exclusive archives.
The exhibition highlights Maxime Old?s major projects in Rouen, as well as his collaborations with prestigious institutions such as the Mobilier national and the Musée des Arts décoratifs. Tracing his career through 8 immersive sections, his creations for the Hôtel de Ville de Rouen, the Halle aux Toiles, the liner France and many other landmarks, you'll discover how Old shaped spaces to combine aesthetics, functionality and symbolism.
