The This is England festival of British short films was initiated 12 years ago by the Rouen Norwich Club twinning committee. At the time, a group of enthusiasts wanted to create a cultural bridge between the two sides of the Channel through cinema. From a handful of films shown to school groups at the outset, the event has gradually established itself in Rouen's cultural and educational landscape, and today offers over 20,000 spectators (public and school) a full week of competition in mid-November.
In figures, This is England consists of 6 programs of 90', or 50 short films on average, in cinemas on both sides of the river.
Thanks to increasingly enthusiastic feedback from guests and spectators, this year's festival, from November 15 to 23, will welcome some sixty film professionals to present their films (directors, producers, scriptwriters, actors). It's the perfect opportunity to chat with artists every evening about their films and their free, bold vision of cinematic creation!
The detailed program will be unveiled in early October.
