Juliette Fribourg and Shane Haddad / Stadios

For her second show, Juliette Fribourg writes with Shane Haddad a variation on Formula 1, inspired by the famous driver Ayrton Senna. Reclining in her teenage bedroom, the character of La Journaliste watches over and over again the last seconds of the life of racing driver Avi Quinn, who died in an incomprehensible accident during a Grand Prix race. La Journaliste probes, details and questions the world of Formula 1 in the light of this accident, trying to understand how the machinery of the sport can continue to thrive despite the weight of its responsibilities. Virage questions our collective obsessions, the cult of speed and the absurdity of a sport that not even death can stop. On stage, archives become the stuff of dreams: the room becomes a paddock, a courtroom, a TV set, and the characters, real or imagined, play, re-enact and outwit the absurdity of reality.
