In August, thousands of warblers migrate to their African wintering grounds. During their long and exhausting journey, the birds need to stop off to feed and recharge their batteries. And the reed beds of the Seine estuary are a 4-star hotel!
To study their habits and the effects of climate change, ornithologists have been setting up several banding stations here every summer for over 30 years, where birds are captured, studied and banded before being released. A visit to one of these stations is an opportunity to see them up close and discover the secrets of these long-distance travelers.
