A scientist in his laboratory is researching the origins of mankind. Without uttering a single word, he uses actions, images and music to recount mankind's earliest games: leaving a footprint, drawing an animal, striking a rhythm, making the echo resonate, playing with his shadow. On the big screen, he traces the flora and fauna of millennia and recreates a hunting scene. Fascinated by cave paintings, he seeks to understand what led Cro-Magnon Man to draw on rock faces and reproduces prehistoric symbols himself, using sand, water and clay.
