Manoir du Catel, built under Saint Louis by Richard de Treigos, 10th Abbot of Fécamp, has been restored to its former beauty after 25 years of rescue and restoration. To celebrate this anniversary, a wide range of events are taking place throughout the season.
During the European Heritage Days, you can visit the manor with guided tours that bring to life the history of Normandy?s oldest fortified house, a place of high justice, and bring to life the graffiti that covers the walls. You can also visit the exhibition "A la table du Moyen-Âge" to learn all about medieval cuisine; and the exhibition-quiz "Boire au Moyen Âge" in the valley, where young and old alike can have fun and learn while strolling around. Last but not least, you can watch the film "L?aventure d?une restauration" (The Adventure of Restoration), which recounts the major stages of this extraordinary project.
On Saturday, at 3pm, you can also attend a talk entitled "La vigne en Normandie à travers les âges", given by Philippe RIVAIS from the association In vigno meritas. On Saturday, starting at 6pm, you can discover what drinks were served in the Middle Ages at the medieval bar (free admission, drinks available). And, still on Saturday at 9pm, you can enjoy the grand 25th anniversary fireworks display (free admission).
