Man in our region dates back no further than 500,000 years, whereas he first appeared in Africa 3 million years ago. The Seine Valley has yielded the oldest bone remains in Normandy: the arm bones of a 200,000-year-old individual from Tourville-la-Rivière. People of this period lived by hunting, fishing and gathering: the Paleolithic period. Homo erectus, Neanderthals and Homo sapiens left their mark in Le Havre, Rouen and Elbeuf. Come and discover them at this conference.
