Les Trois TRESORS de BLAINVILLE: Guided tours of the Blainville-Crevon site
The medieval site:
A landmark of Normandy (Duke William and Henry IV both knew it).
Usually closed to the public (except for the area around the Archéo Jazz headquarters), it is now open to the public.
The astonishing remains of 6 superimposed castles (from the 11th-century motte to the 18th-century residence) have been brought to life by the hard work of passionate volunteers since 1967.
Rooms and staircases from the 14th and 15th centuries, then completely buried, are now accessible, perfectly preserved and spectacular. An introduction to archery is planned.
La Sirène collections:
In the heart of the village (mill opposite the pharmacy) of Blainville, birthplace of the famous Marcel Duchamp, the association La Sirène presents the unusual collections of art critic Anatole Jakovsky: a remarkable collection of naive paintings (Chaissac, Fous, O?Brady...), a dense library dedicated to the plastic arts, almost 28,000 old postcards, several thousand objects relating to tobacco or astronautics and much more...
The collegiate church :
Splendid late 15th-century church, founded by one of Blainville?s great lords, Jean
d'Estouteville. It stands out for its pure style, sandstone and flint cladding, balustraded porch and bold, tapering bell tower. Inside, much of the furnishings also date from the 15th century
and remarkable: stalls, stained glass windows and statues, one of which is exceptional: in polychrome wood, it depicts Saint Michael slaying a dragon.
