Table d'orientation de Beauvoir en Lyons

the name "Beau-voir" is aptly applied to the commune: "Beautiful to look at". The existence of Beauvoir is lost in the mists of time, certainly in the first centuries of our era.
The "Boutonnière" of the Pays de Bray is a depression 2 to 15 km wide, bordered on either side by more or less pronounced escarpments (cuestas). Soil erosion is uneven. A few points of resistance have given rise to witness mounds. (Les Monts de Sigy, Beauvoir en Lyons...)
In this depression, gentle undulations create a varied landscape of bocage meadows, wetlands, cultivated fields and vast forested areas.
Clay soils are ideal for grassland and dairy cattle farming. On the peaks and plateaus, the soil consists of clay and flint, while the lowest areas are dominated by meadows and forests. The soil is very humid, with a subsoil rich in iron (thermal springs) and iron ore, as well as colored clays (ceramics) and a glassmaking industry linked to the forest.
In Beauvoir en Lyons, mosaic artist Milan Uzelac has perpetuated the glassmaking tradition on the orientation table. ( Orientation table 6 on the Landscape Route)

Near loop 8 "Les Acres", starting from the Mairie, accessible on foot, by bike or on horseback.
