Usually associated with Argentine tango, the bandoneon was created in Germany in the 19th century to replace the organ in modest parishes, or those wishing an instrument to accompany outdoor religious ceremonies. It is these roots that voice and viola da gamba wish to reveal here, inviting the bandoneon to join them in the organ music of Johann Sebastian Bach, adapting the chorales of the Orgelbüchlein for this astonishingly natural, timeless-sounding ensemble.
