Founded in the early 12th century, Prieuré Saint-Jacques, located north of the Rouen-Normandie metropolitan area in the commune of Mont-Saint-Aignan, was originally a place of worship for pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela, as well as a home for lepers. From the Middle Ages to the Revolution, the church of the Saint-Jacques priory was the parish church. Sold as national property, it gradually fell into ruin. Visitors can admire the Romanesque nave, with its capitals adorned with animals and geometric motifs, some of which have retained their polychromy. It's a charming place, with a breathtaking view over the city of Rouen.
