Overlooking the English Channel, Cap d'Ailly is a unique site on the Seine-Maritime coast. This exceptional site is home to many different types of natural environment, including heather and gorse moorlands, giving it a Scottish or Breton flavour.
In 1755, Louis XV?s architects built a lighthouse 156 metres from the edge of the cliff. Caught up in the erosion of the cliffs, it collapsed in 1964. Two other lighthouses were subsequently built, the last of which is the one currently standing at Pointe d?Ailly.
The site is owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral and managed by the Département de la Seine-Maritime.
