The Basse Vallée de la Scie, with its wet meadows and ponds, is typical of the Seine-Maritime coastline. A typical Pays de Caux barn lies at the heart of the lower valley. It was immortalized by Claude Monet, giving it an important heritage dimension.
The Bois de Bernouville is one of the few forested areas close to the coast. Its undergrowth is home to tall primroses, daffodils and numerous fern species. It is also home to many species of birds (crested tit, tawny owl, etc.) and remarkable amphibians (frogs, newts, etc.). The Bois de Bernouville is also home to the ruins and moat of a medieval castle dating back to the 11th century. This site was of great strategic value as a lookout post for the Normandy coast. The forest was planted around the ruins in the 19th century.
Numerous paths lead through the woods and ruins, offering breathtaking views over the Vallée de la Scie.
The site is owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral and managed by the Département de la Seine-Maritime in partnership with the Agglomération Dieppe Maritime.
