We know a lot about prehistoric man. He was strong because he killed mammoths, intelligent because he invented weapons and tools, clever because he domesticated fire, and violent because he pulled his wife by the hair. And the women? They devoted themselves solely to reproduction and household maintenance. These images die hard. For a long time, people believed these stereotypes, which suited some people who wrote, to anyone who would read them, that since the birth of humanity, women had been on Earth to make children and look after the home, while men provided for the family by killing mammoths or going to the office. Since the 60s, men and women have been examining these assumptions. Thanks to advances in science, it turns out that the place of women was a little more complex than we were led to believe.
