The Espace Naturel Sensible de la Basse Vallée de la Saâne is a wetland area that owes all its interest to its coastal river. Stretching for almost 35 kilometers, the Saâne flows through large wet meadows and crops, as well as a natural environment that is virtually unique in the Seine-Maritime region: salt meadows. The interest of this site lies not only in its role as a sponge during floods or high tides, but above all as a refuge for numerous species. The Basse Vallée is recognized as a nesting site for certain birds (cisticola) and as a migratory stopover between the Bay of the Somme and the Seine estuary (curlew). In terms of flora, the site is home to typical wetland vegetation (reeds, rushes).
The site is owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral and private individuals. It is managed by the Département de la Seine-Maritime.
