The Amont cliff is one of Normandy?s largest maritime sites. This natural area is of great ecological interest for flora and birds, and offers remarkable views of the Aiguille d'Étretat, witness to the retreat of the cliffs, and the Notre-Dame de la Garde chapel.
The coastal path allows you to explore the site freely and discover its richness.
The Falaise d'Amont was a famous place where people gathered to listen to the waves on stormy days. It was frequented by some of the greatest Impressionist painters of the 19th century. At the top is the Notre-Dame de la Garde chapel, erected in 1854 in honor of sailors. It was demolished during the Second World War and rebuilt in the 1950s. A museum in honor of Nungesser and Coli, two lost aviators, is located opposite the chapel.
The site is owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral and managed by the Département de la Seine-Maritime.
