The bailliage was an administrative, financial and judicial district. Destroyed in 1472, it was rebuilt under the reign of Louis XI in 1483 by Roger Goujon. Important personalities such as François I, Henri II and Henri IV stayed here. Facing Dieppe, it gradually lost its functions until the Revolution of 1789.
