Yport, a charming
seaside resort
Nestled in the hollow of a valley

Nature & authenticity

Nestled in a green valley in the heart of the Côte d’Albâtre, Yport is a small seaside town with a unique charm, where maritime history and natural beauty intertwine.

Let yourself be carried away by its authentic atmosphere and picturesque streets lined with flint and brick houses. Yport is an ideal place to recharge your batteries, between cliffs, pebbles and traditions.

 Discovering Yport

Nestled deep in the cliffs, this atypical little village charms visitors with its colorful fishermen’s cottages and middle-class villas. As you stroll along the streets, the town’s maritime past is omnipresent: from the boats and nets lying by the beach, to the multicolored capstans and old beach huts, Yport reveals a veritable history of life turned towards the sea.

Ranked as one of the Côte d’Albâtre’s main beaching ports, the village boasts traditional boats and an atmosphere typical of the Normandy coast. At low tide, the pebble beach even reveals stretches of sand ideal for fishing on foot. It’s the perfect spot for fishing and nature lovers, offering views of the surrounding cliffs and a tranquil atmosphere where time seems suspended.

In the footsteps of artists and writers

Over the centuries, Yport has attracted numerous painters, writers and musicians, fascinated by the light and wild landscapes of this coastline.

Among them were J.-P. Laurens, Corot, Paul Colin, Boudin, Guy de Maupassant, François Coppée, André Gide and many others.

The village has preserved this inspiring atmosphere.

Ready to hike one of France's most beautiful GR trails?

For all hiking enthusiasts: Yport is crossed by the famous GR21, voted France’s favorite GR in 2020.

This trail, located in the heart of the Côte d’Albâtre wilderness, promises panoramas you won’t soon forget. Cliffs, wooded valleys and sea views, the GR21 offers an unforgettable getaway.

But don’t forget to bring good shoes and an adventurous spirit, as this trail also offers some great climbs and descents for those who like a bit of elevation change!

The Fête de la Mer, a not-to-be-missed event

Every year on August 15, Yport celebrates its maritime traditions with the Fête de la Mer et de la Peinture.

This event brings locals and visitors together around the beach and colorful cabestans, honoring the many artists who have set up their easels on the coast: mass, procession, blessing of the boats and open-air painting… This festive day is the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the spirit of Yport, between conviviality and heritage.

To complete your experience, take advantage of the supervised bathing area in summer, where young and old alike can relax and have fun in complete safety.
