169 Rue du Renard 76000 ROUEN / Vallée de Seine

Since the 1990s, German artist Gunter Demnig has been installing his Stolpersteine in memory of the victims of Nazism all over Europe. These symbolic "stones to stumble over" are covered with a hand-engraved brass plate, and each one commemorates a victim.
On the territory of the Rouen Normandie Metropolis and in partnership with it, Stolpersteine or Memory Stones have been installed on the initiative of the association Pavés de Mémoire Rouen Métropole to honor the memory of families with under-age children who were victims of the Holocaust. They constitute a "decentralized" and evolving memorial: to date (March 2023), 70 paving stones have been set in the sidewalks of Rouen at 17 addresses and 13 in the sidewalks of Sotteville-lès-Rouen at 3 addresses.
They can be discovered in the streets on your own, individually or in groups, using the free cell phone application (or website) "Stolpersteine Guide", which geolocates them and provides biographies (in French) and photos of the victims: https://stolpersteine-guide.de/
