La Tour Mailly

In the heart of the Bresle Valley, come and immerse yourself in nature! Leaving from Saint-Léger-aux-Bois, this 5 km walk, you will get to explore a variety of landscapes.

Accessible to everyone, this walk starts in front of the Mailly Tower. The building really is a symbol of the village of Saint-Léger-aux-Bois. Built in the 16th century by the descendants of the Lords of Saint-Léger, it used to be part of a castle that was destroyed during the French Revolution. It was inhabited by the Mailly Family until 1755. Nowadays, the last Lord known to Saint-Léger-aux-Bois rests in the village chapel.

Your path will take you through fields and will offer you an unobstructed view over the Bresle Valley and the quaint village of Rétonval. You will be able to see its charming church as well as its former glass factory, which closed down in 1931. Indeed the Bresle Valley is also known as the Glass Valley. This international glass making centre is particularly known for its know-how in luxury glass bottles. Today, 7,000 people work in this industry in the area.

A short shaded climb through the Forest of Eu will take you gently to another viewpoint before heading back to the starting point through fields.
