Montigny

In the Scie Valley, a loop route in the countryside that is perfect to enjoy a walk with the whole family.

Ideal for a family walk, this rural 6.5 km circular route will not let you down! A journey into the heart of the Scie Valley, between the old wood of Montigny and the typical fields of the Pays de Caux, where time seems to stand still. You will be delighted by this beautiful 2 hour-long walk.

With its flat paths, you will follow the Montigny route without having to worry about difficulty! After a short walk through the forest you will quickly reach the bottom of the valley where the river Scie flows peacefully, a small stream that you have to cross, on a dry path, of course! Take time to enjoy the 360° view over the typical landscapes of the Pays de Caux and immerse yourself in the peaceful atmosphere of the place. The rest of the walk follows a pretty little path on the edge of the forest offering a wide palette of greens or oranges depending on the season. Open your eyes and enjoy this unique experience!

Continue your walk with a little bit of history by picking up a short section of the GR210 hiking trail, following in the footsteps of the "Chasse-Marée". This trail runs for 80 km and follows closely the old "fish route" that used to link Dieppe and Rouen. The word "chasse-marée" referred to the wholesale fish merchants who used to carry fish and seafood from the coastal towns to Rouen and Paris.

Back in the forest, you will see a big clearing. You will see the Château de Montigny, now a private property, at the bottom of the clearing. A few more steps and here you are, back to the starting point with a head full of beautiful images!

Our last word of advice: wear a good pair of shoes because the forest tracks can be muddy if it rained.
