Parc Floral William Farcy

Parc du Colombier 453, rue Louis Loucheur 76550 OFFRANVILLE / Côte d'Albâtre

In the town Offranville, not far from Dieppe and Varengeville-sur-Mer, the William Farcy Floral Park is located in the heart of a former 18th century farm. Named after its founder, this 6-acre garden consists in 18 themed rooms for a walk in a green and friendly setting.

That afternoon was perfect for a nice walk. I was off to explore the William Farcy Park and its 18 themed gardens that are the promise of beautiful experience. Before I entered the park, I saw a map. It looked long and colourful. I spotted various water features, which would surely keep the atmosphere cool on this hot day. I walked into the "Maison du parc", which is located in a former 18th century cart-house. I already noticed the tea room that would be perfect for a gourmet break after my walk. I arrived in the park and the change of scenery was astonishing. A few seconds before, I was in an urban setting, and here I suddenly was in the heart of a garden with lush flower beds. The trees are very tall, so much that I felt protected, as if in a green cocoon. Because of its shape, the park is designed with long straight paths, and at each bend the decor changes. I strolled through this garden as if I was in a museum. I immersed myself in the character and atmosphere of each room. I looked closely at the pretty flowers and wandered through these mosaics of colours. Sometimes I came across intersections with directional signs pointing me in the right direction. The gardens are intimate, the path is narrow and the flower beds and perennials are soft to the touch. As I reached the "Colour Alley”, I was surprised by this open and invigorating space. A stream flows through the garden and guided me on my walk. With its little wood pontoon and its decorative features, this garden reminded me of Asia. The atmosphere is very serene, peaceful. This walk was a moment for myself, to recharge my batteries and clear my head. The Purple Garden is incredible. The warm shades of the leaves of the trees and plants brought about a sense of well-being, and I felt as if I was wrapped in a cocoon.

The flowers beds and mixed borders are luxuriant and the landscape reminded me of an Impressionist painting. I could see plenty of colour, movement, energy and softness. How can one not feel serene in such a garden? In a dreamy mood, I walked towards the garden's lake and crossed the wooden bridge. I was alone, cut off from all civilisation and the only sounds I could hear came from a small waterfall. I spotted a bench and sat down to extend this meditative experience. How pleasant! I thought I couldn't feel any better than I did at that precise moment, but that was without knowing there was a rose garden. I smelled their characteristic and bewitching fragrance even before I could see the roses. They were splendid, graceful and elegant. It was impossible to feel indifferent! I spent a long time walking among them, before continuing my poetic walk...
