In Spanish literature, the romancero is a collection of poems in which small stories form a larger story. This poetic genre evokes Garcia Lorca, the oral tradition and its legends. That's the spirit behind this concert. Love is recounted in melodies that blur the boundaries between popular and learned songs. Two countries are featured. Spain first of all, which is at the heart of the "Romancero" album. From Andalusia to Catalonia, she shares her passions with us. The musical colors change, but the depth remains. Then there's Italy: through Naples and its rich songwriting tradition, she confides in us a simple and popular music, in its noblest sense: that belongs to the people.
Interweaving these melodies, guitar and voice weave an intimate and exalted romance throughout the concert. The works for solo guitar, instrumental breaths that interweave with the concert, were written by three great masters of Spanish music at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries: Tarrega, Turina and Torroba. The pieces, originally written for piano and voice, are rediscovered in a new light in arrangements by Guillaume Bleton.
The Palais Bénédictine is an architectural masterpiece of neo-Gothic and neo-Renaissance inspiration, built in the late 19th century in honor of the Benedictine liqueur. It still houses the only Benedictine distillery in the world. A unique location in Normandy.
Your ticket includes a cocktail tasting at the Palais Bénédictine, at 7:30pm (alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health; consume in moderation).
Ticket sales open on site between 30 minutes and 1 hour before the event. Please contact the festival in advance of events for PRM (07 61 24 70 41).
