Côte d'Albâtre

Beschrijving

Follow us from the church, located in the main square, and stop to admire the contrast between the red brick pillars and the white stone base. Then go and look for the second viewpoint indicator. Once you have reached it, turn around and open your eyes… what a surprise! You have a stunning view over the Château, through the trees!

As you walk back to the town centre, don't miss the half-timbered house. The shape of its roof, the carvings on the wood and the arrangement of the bricks make it unique! It is then time to walk through what probably is the narrowest street in the village to reach one of the numerous watermills that were formerly in use along the Valmont river.

Then let's get back on the right track with a stroll near the former train station and the railway line. Another stop you shouldn't miss is the Abbey Notre-Dame-du-Pré, where tranquillity and peace prevail. Before going back to the starting point, there is nothing better than going back to the origins of the Valmont river!

It is thus at the "Vivier", the source of the river, that the walk ends. Here too, there is a particular atmosphere with the lapping of the water and the coolness of century-old trees. And if you feel like it, continue your walk with the Vivier Walk to explore this route marked by Guy de Maupassant's and Eugène Delacroix's memories.
