Le Hamel au Coeur

Vallée de Seine

Overview

An enjoyable walk through the fields that offers an exceptional view over the Seine Valley, Quillebeuf and the Marais Vernier, one of the largest peat bogs in France!

Looking for a way to get away from your daily life and back to nature? "The Hamel au Coeur" is the ideal walk! Leaving from Saint-Jean-de-Folleville, this two-hour-long circular walk will guide you through fields and woodlands. If you are looking for breathtaking views of the Seine Valley, then this walk is for you!

Even before you start, this walk will blow your mind away! You will lucky to see, a stone's throw away from the starting totem pole, a dramatic panoramic view over the mouth of the Seine Estuary. After a few steps on the road, you will pick a path through fields towards the forest. There, you will go deeper and deeper into the peaceful and enclosed atmosphere of woodlands. Then you reach the top of a small valley and admire the exceptional view over the Seine Valley, Quillebeuf and the Marais Vernier, one of the largest peat bogs in France! Below, you can see the mouth of the Seine estuary. This both vast and fragile nature site has a remarkable ecological diversity that is internationally recognized.

Continue your walk and cross the bright meadows thanks to little gates. Don't forget to close the gates behind you or the herds will escape! Take time to stop a few minutes to breathe in the fresh woodland air and make the most of these bucolic moments. You will surely be awe-struck by the simplicity and beauty of the scenery.

There is no reason to get bored during this Norman circular walk! With its 8 kilometres, the "Hamel au Cœur" route will surprise you with its diversity. Up hill and down dale, you will have the opportunity to discover a variety of landscapes as well as several views over the Tancarville Bridge that spans the Seine estuary. Everything you need to take great pictures and bring home beautiful memories! We recommend wearing a good pair of shoes, especially if it rained as the path can be slippery.
