Sisley leaves moret-sur-Loing at the invitation of François depeaux, a patron from rouen, in order to paint landscapes for him: the seine and its reflections.
The wind blow is represented with curved brushstrokes that even express the leaves trembling and the water lap. The shape of the boat sails also conveys the impression of the wind blowing. Today the port facilities of Rouen are extending towards la Bouille. The impressionist painter would have liked painting those silos, the Flaubert bridge, the ferryboats…
