La Vélomaritime® - EuroVelo 4

Côte d'Albâtre

Overview

Linking quaint fishing villages and seaside resorts along the Alabaster Coast, this 180-km-long (111 miles) challenging cycle route consists of small signposted roads that wind through the impressive white chalk cliffs and greens valleys. We promise the effort is well worth the wonders hidden at every turn!

From Le Tréport to Le Havre, the Vélomaritime® cycle route runs along the Channel coastline. It offers a mosaic of exceptional viewpoints. Between the sea and the countryside, nearly 180 km of small marked routes wind between the cliffs of Albâtre and the green valleys, linking the elegant villages and seaside resorts of the Seine-Maritime.
Please note that there are no bike paths here, but rather small roads that cross breathtaking landscapes, with some inevitable hills.
The Vélomaritime® is part of the European EuroVelo 4 itinerary that links Kiev, in Ukraine, to Roscoff on the tip of Brittany. Want to know more? We invite you to discover the website of the route https://www.lavelomaritime.fr/

PRACTICE
The Vélomaritime® - EuroVelo 4 in Seine-Maritime is a rather sporty route but accessible to any cyclist in good physical condition. It is not a cycle track but a selection of roads, with some very busy stretches, offering cycling tourists the best possible conditions for getting as close to the coast as possible.
Seine-Maritime Attractivité has a map of the Véloroutes et Voies Vertes indicating the marked itinerary but also VTC (all roads) or road variants allowing to avoid the most difficult parts. Think of the electric bike which can be a precious ally to climb easily from the sea level to the cliffs!
