Circuit Côte de la Vierge

Côte d'Albâtre

Overview

This walk takes you through the streets of Fécamp and the Côte de la Vierge (Virgin Mary Hill) between the quays and the signal station. Go up to discover or rediscover the town from a new angle.

Get your sneakers ready, get set, go! You will start the walk on the quays along the port of Fécamp where you will see the town opening onto the sea. While following the blue information panels, you will pick up the "sente aux matelots" (Sailors' path). This path, once a pilgrimage route, will lead you to the Chapel Notre-Dame de Salut, which is greatly appreciated by walkers and located at the top of the cliff, at Cap Fagnet. On the way up, take time to look back to admire the view over the town, that slowly appears between the roofs of the houses.

After a little effort, you are rewarded with an amazing view of the sea and the cliffs. Once at the top, you can choose between two options: go inside the Chapel Notre-Dame-du-Salut or recharge your batteries at one of the picnic tables located next to the signal station.

With the wind blowing in your hair, you will be able to learn more about the local history marked by the Atlantic Wall built during World War II. Cap Fagnet features blockhouses that you will be able to understand better thanks to information panels.

Your walk is now finished, but you can extend it with the "Fauna, flora and wind" Trail. To do so, you just have to follow the path that takes you to explore the Cap Fagnet ecosystem.
And if you want to see another facet of Fécamp, the town has 4 heritage trails that will find in the brochure "Laissez-vous conter Fécamp" (Listen to the story of Fécamp) whose link is on this page.
