The Valleuse de Grainval

76400 SAINT-LEONARD / Côte d'Albâtre

Overview

Valleuses (dry-hanging valleys)

Located in Saint-Léonard, the dry-hanging valley of Grainval leads to a small pebble beach ideal to gather shellfish and have a walk.

South of Fécamp, at the end of the Valleuse de Grainval, is a small pebble beach. Visitors are equally as charmed by its peacefulness as by the view it offers of the town. Claude Monet was sufficiently charmed by it to paint a picture there in 1881. Today the site attracts walkers and shore fishing enthusiasts who can discover the source La Roche qui Pleure (the crying rock) which gushes out onto the beach and the little chapel with maritime stained-glass windows nestled in the valleuse.
