Overview

Sensitive Natural Environments, Forests

The Forest of Eu is among the most beautiful forests of Seine-Maritime and is located about 10 km away from the towns of Eu and Le Tréport. A former royal forest, it is mostly planted with splendid beech trees and offers walkers breathtaking panoramic views, especially the Saint-Catherine viewpoint over the Yères Valley.

The undivided forest of Eu is a natural area divided into 4 remarkable parts: the lower forest of Eu, the limestone hills of the upper forest of Eu, the peatbogs of Siège Madame and the heathland of Beaumont. Each of these parts are interesting for their fauna and flora. There are numerous protected species like orchids, ferns and amphibians (frogs, newts, etc.).
The Forest of Eu originally belonged to the Dukes of Normandy and then to the Count of Eu, before being owned by the House of Orleans for a long time. Finally the State and the Department of Seine-Inférieure acquired it in 1915. Nowadays, it is managed by the French National Forest Office on behalf of the State and the Department of Seine-Maritime.
This site belongs to the Department de Seine Maritime and the State and is managed by the French National Forest Office.
