rue Aldric Crevel 76290 MONTIVILLIERS / Côte d'Albâtre
The Brisgaret Ossuary in Montivilliers is one of the rare examples of medieval cemeteries in France that has kept its original purpose. Its surprising macabre depictions on the walls and beams makes it an exceptional place in the region.
Dating from the same period as the Saint Maclou Ossuary in Rouen, the Brisgaret Ossuary is exceptional because of its design comprising a gallery, a chapel and a Gothic Cross. The site offers a unique insight into the daily life of people who were scared of Death and the afterlife.
