Located at the corner of Quai Duquesne and Boulevard Général de Gaulle, the Hôtel des Chambres de Commerce et d?Industrie managed the port until 2017, and now houses the headquarters and services of the Dieppe Maritime agglomeration community.
This majestic L-shaped building, facing the trade and fishing basin, was designed by architect Lucien Lefort (1850-1916). He chose a monumental, eclectic façade: a large bay window framed by four columns, a pediment with baroque curves and a cartouche representing the Dieppe coat of arms at its heart, and bricks alternating with ashlar on the first level.
On either side, two statues are set in niches. On the left, the hydrographer Pierre Desceliers, and on the right, the shipowner Jehan Ango, both major Dieppe figures of the 16th century. These statues were created by Ernest Dubois (1863-1930) in a context where local glories were highlighted: here, Jehan Ango and Pierre Descelier evoke Dieppe?s maritime and commercial prosperity in the 16th century.
